CO2 Scrubbing

In ethanol fermentation processes, Clark Solutions provides a complete CO₂ scrubbing column designed to maximize alcohol recovery and gas purification from fermenters. Released CO₂ carries ethanol as saturated vapor, leading to potential losses. The system operates based on gas absorption in water, promoting efficient phase contact through properly designed packings and liquid distributors, ensuring high mass transfer efficiency. A mist eliminator is installed at the top to retain entrained liquid, reducing ethanol losses and improving overall process reliability and integration.

Benefits

Increased Efficiency

Proper selection of internals, combined with evaluation of the solution as a whole, contributes to optimized performance.

Ethanol Recovery

Ethanol losses can reach up to 10% of the plant's total production, but can be recovered through the CO₂ Column, allowing the recovery of water with an alcohol content of up to 4 °GL.

Operational Flexibility

Clark Solutions internals are highly suitable for a wide range of operating conditions, which are considered during the design phase.

Sustainable Process

Promotes sustainable industrial practices by reducing water consumption and purifying CO₂.

Reduced Internal Pressure in Vats

Columns designed to operate with 3-Pack random packing or MaxiPac structured packing can deliver a 30-60% reduction in pressure drop compared to columns traditionally designed with trays.
