Random Packings in Thermally Stabilized Polypropylene (PPH)

Clark Solutions, serving multiple industrial sectors, often needs to combine chemical resistance with high-temperature durability.

Earlier this year, we were approached by a developer and provider of process technologies for the pulp and paper industry, requesting a random packing solution for a sulfur recovery process.

The specifications involved a gas stream at 110°C with highly corrosive components. Conventional PP packings were unsuitable due to the temperature, and stainless steel was also not viable due to chemical attack and high cost.

To meet the challenge, our process engineering team developed a manufacturing tool for producing MaxiRing® or 3-Pack® random packings using Thermally Stabilized Polypropylene (PPH) — a material suitable for 110–120°C that meets the client’s performance requirements at a cost-effective level.

By selecting PPH, the packing achieved the necessary physical and mechanical properties, enabling stable operation at elevated temperatures.
