A sugar and ethanol mill located in the interior of São Paulo was experiencing severe liquid carryover of cane juice in a set of six pre‑evaporators. The carryover was so critical that the equipment could no longer operate at full juice flow capacity — it was limited to a total of 900 m³/h, or 150 m³/h per pre‑evaporator.
These evaporators were equipped with a centrifugal separator, a traditional but now somewhat outdated technology compared to modern alternatives. As a result, the efficiency of removing the finest cane juice droplets from the vapor exiting the evaporators was low.
Facing these challenges, the mill contacted Clark Solutions to identify the best solution. We selected a metal wire mesh mist eliminator — the MaxiMesh. This equipment captures extremely fine droplets (on the order of 5 µm — 10 to 12 times thinner than a human hair).

MaxiMesh units were installed on all pre‑evaporators and delivered the following results after operation:
