Clark Solutions, a specialist in process engineering solutions for the Brazilian industry, has announced a strategic partnership with the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Center (CECCO) — a research division of the Nuclear and Energy Research Institute (IPEN) — to develop national technology for alkaline electrolyzers. This initiative aligns with the emerging Brazilian National Hydrogen Plan (PNH2) and reinforces the company’s commitment to innovation and Brazil’s technological independence in future energy sectors.

Alkaline electrolyzers will play a key role in the production of green hydrogen, a strategic energy alternative for industrial decarbonization and the transition to a sustainable economy. Currently, Brazil depends on imported technologies to enable large-scale production. Through this partnership, Clark Solutions aims to fill that gap, developing solutions that reduce import needs and strengthen the domestic industry.

“We believe investing in research and development is essential to strengthen the Brazilian industry and make it more competitive on a global scale. Green hydrogen represents a major opportunity, and we want to actively contribute to building this new value chain in the country,” says Breno Avancini, Head of R&D at Clark Solutions.

The PNH2, structured by the federal government, outlines a strategic roadmap for consolidating Brazil’s hydrogen value chain, with clear targets for the coming years. The initial focus is on creating hydrogen hubs by 2030, integrating infrastructure, production, and consumption in strategic regions to support technology adoption. From this base, the plan aims to achieve industrial-scale deployment by 2050, ensuring Brazil’s competitiveness in the global market. The nationalization of key technologies, such as alkaline electrolyzers, is essential — making partnerships like that of Clark Solutions and IPEN a critical step forward.
